Reverence Capital’s investment team is led by Milton Berlinski, Peter Aberg and Alex Chulack who collectively bring over 100 years of advisory and investing experience across a wide range of financial services sectors including asset management, banks and specialty finance, capital markets, financial technology and insurance. The Partners reunited to form Reverence Capital in 2013 and bring a combined 30+ years of shared working experience previously at Goldman, Sachs & Co. The Partners are supported by a group of investment professionals who have spent the majority of their careers in financial services and bring prior experience at leading private equity and investment banking firms, many of whom have worked for the Partners at previous employers. Our success in helping to drive value in middle-market financial services companies is a function of our strong team.

Milton Berlinski

Co-Founder, Managing Partner

Milton Berlinski co-founded Reverence Capital in June 2013 after concluding a 26-year career at Goldman Sachs, which he joined in 1986 and where he served as a founding member of the Financial Institutions Group in Investment Banking, focusing on banks, consumer and commercial finance companies, asset management, insurance and capital markets. He also served as Head of Strategy and Corporate Development in the period after Goldman Sachs’ IPO, assisting the Executive Office and division leaders to create and execute a strategy to build out Goldman Sachs’ global footprint. For the final 10 years of his Goldman Sachs tenure, Mr. Berlinski had global responsibility for coverage of the firm’s financial sponsor and hedge fund clients, overseeing a dramatic increase in revenue from the business and working alongside Goldman Sachs’ Merchant Banking team on co-investment opportunities in transactions involving the firm’s clients.

Mr. Berlinski has led or executed over 250 transactions in financial services across all subsectors, including numerous strategic acquisitions by Goldman Sachs itself. Mr. Berlinski was also a member of the Operating Committee and the Compensation Committee during his time at the firm. He received a BA in engineering from California State University, Northridge, in 1978 and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1980. Mr. Berlinski serves on the board of directors for Russell Investments, Venerable Holdings (HoldCo), Transact, Osaic (f/k/a Advisor Group), DMG Bancshares, Ministry Brands, CAIS, SEIA, EverBank (f/k/a TIAA Bank), and New York Community Bank. He formerly served on the board of directors for Kabbage, Diamond Resorts, and Victory Capital. He also serves on the Board of the Ronald McDonald House, the Advisory Board of the Wharton School and The Mount Sinai Department of Surgery Advisory Board. He is a Board Member of the New America Alliance, supporting Latino leadership in entrepreneurship, corporate America, and public service. In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors of Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), which has made a lifetime of achievement possible for nearly 20,000 talented young people from underserved and underrepresented communities around the United States.

Peter Aberg

Co-Founder, Partner

Peter Aberg co-founded Reverence Capital in June 2013 after spending 28 years at Goldman Sachs including 15 years as a Managing Director or Partner focused primarily on the bank, finance company and payments sectors. The vast majority of Mr. Aberg’s career was spent in the Securities Division, applying the asset-level cash flow analytics used in the asset-backed securities business to strategic advisory engagements and structured portfolio investments. He served as co-head of the Principal Finance Group and FICC Advisory Group in the Securities Division and as co-head of the Specialty Finance practice in the Financial Institutions Group in Investment Banking. He received a BA from Yale in 1981 and an MBA from Wharton in 1983. Mr. Aberg serves on the board of directors for CardWorks, Venerable Holdings (OpCo), Osaic (f/k/a Advisor Group), and Allspring Global Investments, and is an observer on the board of directors for EverBank (f/k/a TIAA Bank). He formerly served as an observer on the board of directors for Diamond Resorts and on the board of directors of Obra Capital (f/k/a Vida Capital).

Alex Chulack

Co-Founder, Partner

Alex Chulack co-founded Reverence Capital in June 2013 after 8 years at General Atlantic LLC, where he was a Managing Director leading the firm’s efforts in the Financial Services sector. He has extensive experience in the sector, with specific expertise working with financial technology, capital markets and asset management businesses, as well as consumer and commercial finance franchises. Mr. Chulack served on the boards of numerous current and prior General Atlantic portfolio companies, including: GETCO (now KCG Holdings), Sura Asset Management, Oak Hill Advisors and Pierpont Securities. He was also a key contributor to a number of current and prior portfolio companies, including First Republic Bank, BM&F Bovespa, RiskMetrics, NYMEX and others. Prior to joining General Atlantic, Mr. Chulack was an investment banker with Morgan Stanley & Co. and Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he worked with the firm’s financial institutions clients and advised the firms on internal strategic matters. He started his career at Lazard Freres & Co. focusing on mergers and acquisitions in financial services. Mr. Chulack received his B.A. in Economics from Amherst College. Mr. Chulack serves on the board of directors for Transact, CRS Temporary Housing, and Ministry Brands, and is an observer on the board of directors for Russell Investments. He previously served on the board of Kabbage and Obra Capital (f/k/a Vida Capital).

Val Philippe

Chief Operating Officer

Val Philippe joined Reverence Capital in 2023 as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining Reverence, Mr. Philippe served for 16 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was a partner in the firm’s U.S. Deals business, specializing in financial due diligence. He assisted on well over 100 transactions, dedicating a majority of his time advising private equity firms, including Reverence Capital Partners, and public companies across the financial services and financial technology sectors. Mr. Philippe received a BA in Economics and Accounting from the College of the Holy Cross and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York.

Daniel Brujis

Managing Director

Daniel Brujis joined Reverence Capital in 2020 after more than 8 years at TA Associates in London and Hong Kong.  While at TA, Mr. Brujis helped originate and lead several transactions across Europe and Asia Pacific including Söderberg & Partners in Sweden, Yarra Capital Partners in Australia and Fisher Funds in New Zealand.  He was also involved in several additional investments across the financial services, business services, technology and consumer sectors.  Prior to joining TA, Mr. Brujis was at Lazard in New York, where he worked in the Financial Institutions Group. Mr. Brujis received a BS in Operations Research with a concentration in financial engineering and a minor in economics, magna cum laude, from the Columbia University.  Mr. Brujis serves on the board of directors of Transact, Allspring Global Investments, and Ministry Brands, and is an observer on the board of directors for CAIS.

Rebecca Alcalay

Principal

Rebecca Alcalay joined Reverence Capital in 2021. Prior to Reverence, Ms. Alcalay was a Vice President at GF Investments, a large single-family office, where she was focused on investing in the financial services industry. Prior to joining GF, Ms. Alcalay was an Associate Director at Temasek and a Business and Financial Services Associate at Oak Hill Capital. Ms. Alcalay started her career at The Blackstone Group as a Restructuring and Reorganizational Analyst. Ms. Alcalay received her BS in Finance and Accounting, summa cum laude, from the Wharton School and her MBA from Harvard Business School. Ms. Alcalay serves on the board of directors of Osaic (f/k/a Advisor Group) and SEIA.

Jeremy Colvin

Principal

Jeremy Colvin joined Reverence Capital in 2014. Mr. Colvin previously worked at Goldman Sachs as an Associate in the Financial Sponsors Group within Investment Banking from 2008-2012, where his work included identifying, analyzing and assisting clients on executing private equity opportunities.  At Goldman Sachs, Mr. Colvin was directly promoted from Analyst to Associate and served on the Analyst Advisory Council. Mr. Colvin received a BA in 2008 from Columbia University and an MBA from Columbia Business School in 2014.

Michaela Saly

Principal

Michaela Saly joined Reverence Capital in 2019. Prior to Reverence, Ms. Saly worked for Goldman Sachs as a Vice President in its Financial Institutions Group, providing strategic advice and executing M&A transactions in the insurance sector. Ms. Saly started her career as an investment professional at J&T Group, a Central European private equity and banking group in Prague, Czech Republic. Ms. Saly earned a MBA from the Vanderbilt University and a MS from the University of Economics Prague, Czech Republic. Ms. Saly serves on the board of directors of CRS Temporary Housing.

Alex combs

Vice President

Alex Combs joined Reverence Capital in 2021. Prior to Reverence, Mr. Combs worked at Morgan Stanley as an Investment Banking Associate in the Financial Institutions Group where he focused primarily on asset management and financial technology sectors, and as an Associate in the Equity Research Group covering asset management and discount brokerage companies. Mr. Combs earned a BS in Finance from the University of Maryland and is a CFA charterholder. Mr. Combs serves on the board of directors of Osaic (f/k/a Advisor Group).

Jessica McADaragh

Vice President

Jessica McAdaragh joined Reverence Capital in 2017. Prior to Reverence, Ms. McAdaragh worked at Lazard as an Analyst, where she focused on mergers and acquisitions in financial services. Ms. McAdaragh earned a BS in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2015, graduating with Highest Distinction. Ms. McAdaragh serves on the board of directors of CRS Temporary Housing.

Ben Prigal

Vice President

Ben Prigal joined Reverence Capital in 2021. Prior to Reverence, Mr. Prigal worked at Broadhaven Capital Partners as a Vice President, focusing primarily on the asset and wealth management and financial technology sectors. Prior to that, Mr. Prigal worked in the investment banking division at Wells Fargo Securities. Mr. Prigal earned a BS in Economics and Finance from Penn State University. Mr. Prigal serves on the board of directors of SEIA.

Tyler Ross

Vice President

Tyler Ross joined Reverence Capital in 2018. Prior to Reverence, Mr. Ross worked at Goldman Sachs as an Associate in the Investment Banking Division in their Financial Institutions Group, focusing primarily on the insurance sector, and as an Analyst in the Structured Equity Group, serving clients in the financial services, real estate, and natural resources sectors. Mr. Ross earned a BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2015, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

Charlie Weinberg

Vice President

Charlie Weinberg joined Reverence Capital in 2021. Prior to Reverence, Mr. Weinberg worked for Long Arc Capital focusing on investments in the financial services sector. Prior to that, Mr. Weinberg worked in M&A investment banking at Credit Suisse. Mr. Weinberg earned a BA in International Studies from Middlebury College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Ryan Cockburn

Senior Associate

Ryan Cockburn joined Reverence Capital in 2020. Prior to Reverence, Mr. Cockburn worked at Barclays as an Analyst in the Investment Banking Division in their Financial Institutions Group, focusing primarily on the insurance and financial technology sectors. Mr. Cockburn earned a BS in Finance from the Stern School of Business at New York University in 2018.

Jonathan Rapo joined Reverence Capital in 2021. Prior to Reverence, Mr. Rapo worked at Perella Weinberg Partners as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Financial Institutions Group and as an Analyst in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group at SMBC Nikko Securities. Mr. Rapo earned a BS in Business with a concentration in Finance from New York University - Leonard N. Stern School of Business.

Jill Seong

Jill Seong joined Reverence Capital in 2021. Prior to Reverence, Ms. Seong worked at Goldman Sachs as an Associate in their Financial Institutions Group. Prior to that, Ms. Seong worked at Oliver Wyman where she was most recently an Engagement Manager in Corporate and Institutional Banking. Ms. Seong earned a BA in Economics from Cornell University, MPA from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, and MBA from the Wharton School.

Cade von Gal

Senior Associate

Cade von Gal joined Reverence Capital in 2021.  Prior to Reverence, Mr. von Gal worked at Jefferies as an Investment Banking Associate and at KBW as an Investment Banking Analyst.  Mr. von Gal earned a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Richmond - Robins School of Business.

Josh Metelitsa

Associate

Josh Metelitsa joined Reverence Capital in 2022.  Prior to Reverence, Mr. Metelitsa worked at Barclays as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Financial Institutions Group.  Mr. Metelitsa earned a BS in Applied Economics & Management with concentrations in finance and business analytics from Cornell University, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

Alan Tsai

Alan Tsai joined Reverence Capital in 2023. Prior to Reverence, Mr. Tsai worked at Financial Technology Partners as an Investment Banking Analyst. Mr. Tsai earned a BS in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Accounting from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

Ward Hanser

Associate

Ward Hanser joined Reverence Capital in 2023. Prior to Reverence, Mr. Hanser worked at Stifel Financial Corp. as an Investment Banking Analyst. Mr. Hanser earned a BS in Statistics and Data Science from Yale University.

Katya Johns

Associate

Katya Johns joined Reverence Capital as a Summer Associate in 2022 and a Full-Time Associate in 2023. Ms. Johns began her career at Endeavor, where she oversaw deal flow and due diligence of venture-backed companies across 30 global markets. Subsequently, she worked as a Senior Consultant at Capco, advising top-tier banks, wealth and asset management firms, hedge funds, and FinTech clients on their growth, market, and technology strategies. Ms. Johns earned a BA from Harvard University, an MBA from The Wharton School, and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Joaquin pinto

Joaquin Pinto joined Reverence Capital as a Summer Associate in 2022 and as a Full-Time Associate in 2023. Prior to Reverence, Mr. Pinto worked at APOYO Consultoria as an Investment Banking Associate, serving clients in the financial services, industrial and agriculture sectors. Prior to that, Mr. Pinto worked in M&A investment banking at BBVA. Mr. Pinto earned a BS in Economics from Universidad del Pacifico and an MBA from London Business School.

Thomas Marcotullio

General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer

Thomas Marcotullio joined Reverence Capital in 2023 as General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to joining Reverence, Mr. Marcotullio was at Warner Music Group for 16 years, where he was most recently SVP, Chief Counsel, M&A and Corporate Law negotiating and implementing, globally, the company’s mergers, acquisitions, investments, joint ventures and related corporate legal matters, in addition to managing and negotiating technology and vendor agreements, real estate transactions and related matters for the company. He oversaw numerous matters and a team of lawyers, advising internal business teams and outside counsel across a broad range of transactions. Before Warner Music Group, he was at Shearman & Sterling LLP for six years in their Mergers & Acquisitions group in New York and in London, working on multiple private and public company transactions. Mr. Marcotullio received an AB in Government from Harvard University and a JD from Georgetown University Law Center.

Michael Lee

Head of Investment Strategy & Origination

Michael Lee joined Reverence Capital in September 2022 as Head of Investment Strategy & Origination, where he was brought on to lead the Firm's thematic investment process and idea development based on in-depth company / sector research, targeted relationship building, and outbound prospecting. In this capacity, he supports Reverence's existing investment portfolio businesses, new investment sourcing efforts, and other strategic initiatives.

Michael has a broad wealth of advisory and investing experience with over 25 years in the global financial services sector. He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Dublin in their Financial Services Group where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1994 and later worked in their London and New York offices. He then joined Goldman, Sachs & Co. in 1997 initially in the TMT Group within the Investment Banking Division based in New York, and later transferred to Sydney where he was Head of the Financial Sponsors Group. He returned to New York in 2006 as Head of Investment Idea Generation within the Investment Banking Division, where he was responsible for identifying actionable private equity investment opportunities, including carve-outs and take privates. In this capacity, he evaluated over 3,000 opportunities, ranging in size from $400m to over $30bn across a broad range of industries including financial services. Michael left Goldman Sachs in 2014 to become the Deputy Director of the Irish government's newly formed ($8.5bn) Strategic Investment Fund in Dublin where he was Head of Investment Origination and Co-Investor Partnerships. Most recently, Michael was the SVP of Investor Markets at FPG Amentum in Dublin, a leading aircraft lessor, where he was responsible for investor solutions and relationships in the aviation asset class. In 2022, Michael was appointed as a Director to the Housing Finance Agency (Ireland) Board by the Irish Government. Michael is a Fellow of the Irish Institute of Chartered Accountants, and also has a BComm and MBS (Finance) from University College Dublin.

Chelsea Mago

Head of Capital Markets

Chelsea Mago joined Reverence Capital in 2021.  Prior to Reverence, Ms. Mago was a Director at UBS in the Leveraged Finance and Financial Sponsors group with a primary focus on Financial Institutions.  Prior to UBS, Ms. Mago served as Financial Director at Carbonxt, Inc., an Australian publicly listed company.  Ms. Mago earned her MBA from Goizueta Business School (Emory University) and her BA in Finance from the University of Florida.

David Pollak

Director of Capital Partnering

David Pollak joined Reverence Capital in 2017 after eight years at Pegasus Capital Advisors where he was Director of Marketing and Investor Relations.  Previously he was at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, PaineWebber, and UBS. David serves on the Board of Governors of the Arab American Institute based in Washington DC.  He is also on the Board of the Arab American Family Support Center.  He is a Trustee of the Signal 30 Fund of the NYS Troopers and served on the Corporate Affiliates Advisory Board of the National Association of State Treasurers in 2013 and 2014.  In 2016 he was honored by the Uniformed Firefighters Association of NYC. David received his Master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard University, and his BA in Economics and Politics from the Colorado College.

LEV GELFAND

Head of Distribution & Wealth Solutions - Capital Partnering

Lev Gelfand joined Reverence Capital in 2020. Prior to Reverence, Mr. Gelfand worked at Atlantic-Pacific Capital where he was a Vice President focused on fundraising and private capital advisory from 2015 to 2020. Previously, he was on the Fund Investment Team at Hamilton Lane and at KPMG. Mr. Gelfand received a B.S. in Finance from Rutgers University.

Mahsa Zeinali

Senior Vice President - Capital Partnering

Mahsa Zeinali joined Reverence Capital in 2023. Prior to Reverence she was Head of Investor Relations at 3L Capital, a growth equity firm that invests in tech-enabled consumer and enterprise businesses. Prior to 3L, Ms. Zeinali was a Managing Partner at Sunset Capital Partners where she led private placement mandates. Previously, she served six years as Managing Partner and CEO at Rosen Capital Advisors, an options volatility arbitrage hedge fund. Ms. Zeinali started her career as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Mergers and Acquisitions group of Houlihan Lokey and the Sage Group, LLC. Ms. Zeinali graduated from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario with an Honors BA.

Jen VAnce

Assistant Manager - Capital Partnering

Jen Vance joined Reverence Capital in 2023. Previously, Ms. Vance worked at Jefferies in the Private Funds Group as an Assistant Vice President. Her prior experience includes roles at The Blackstone Group, Imagineer Technology Group, and Guggenheim Partners. Ms. Vance received her B.B.A. in Finance from Loyola University Maryland.

Brian Frisch

Associate - Capital Partnering

Brian Frisch joined Reverence Capital in 2024. Prior to Reverence, Mr. Frisch worked at J.P. Morgan as a Private Banking Associate in the Financial Sponsors Group where he focused primarily on advising ultra-high net worth individuals at private investment firms, as well as the institutions they represented. Mr. Frisch started his career at Credit Suisse as an analyst in the Private Fund Group. Mr. Frisch earned a BS in Finance from Penn State University, graduating magna cum laude.

David Sloane

Director of Finance

David Sloane joined Reverence Capital in 2014. He is responsible for all financial, tax, and administrative activities of the firm. Prior to joining Reverence, Mr. Sloane was a Senior Accountant and Business Analyst at Uretek Archer, LLC located in New Haven, CT before its successful acquisition by Trelleborg AB. Prior to Uretek, Mr. Sloane was a Financial Analyst in The Goldman Sachs Family Office and a Tax Associate at WTAS. He received his B.S. in Accountancy and a Master’s of Science in Taxation both from Bentley University.

Robert Faiges

Controller & VP of Finance

Robert Faiges joined Reverence Capital in 2018. Prior to Reverence, Mr. Faiges worked as a Controller within the Management Company at Och-Ziff Capital Management since 2013, where he managed monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and reporting for various domestic and foreign entities and was responsible for forecasts and quarterly cash funding analyses. Mr. Faiges started his career at Untracht Early LLC specializing in auditing and taxation within the financial services industry. He received his B.S. in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Anait Avidzba

VP of Finance & Fund Controller

Anait Avidzba joined Reverence Capital in 2024.  Prior to Reverence, Ms. Avidzba was a Director with SS&C Technologies, Inc. Private Equity Services where she managed a team responsible for monthly and quarterly deliverables for various private equity funds and funds of funds.  Prior to SS&C Technologies, Ms. Avidzba spent over 10 years years working as a Controller for several investment managers, including Vedanta Capital, I Squared Capital and Rho Capital Partners, Inc.  Ms. Avidzba received her B.S. in Accounting and Finance and MBA from New York University.

Gianna DiMiceli

Accounting Associate

Gianna DiMiceli joined Reverence Capital in 2022. Prior to Reverence, Ms. DiMiceli worked at Deloitte as a Senior Tax Consultant in the Business Tax Services - Investment Management Group. Ms. DiMiceli received her B.S. and M.S. in Accounting from Quinnipiac University.

Leighann Stahli

Director of Administration

Leighann Stahli joined Reverence Capital in 2018. Prior to Reverence, Ms. Stahli worked for Moore Capital Management, The Blackstone Group, and Blue Ridge Capital. Ms. Stahli started her career at Merrill Lynch as a Equity Analyst. She received her BS in Finance and Marketing, from The Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park.
